For the FE series the VX4/90 model was available from the start. Featuring a twin-carburettor 2.3 litre version of the slant-4 engine and a choice of automatic or 4-speed manual with overdrive. The sporty theme set by the FD continued with 5-stud rostyle wheels, twin headlights and comprehensive instumentation set in a brushed aluminium effect dashboard. Despite the larger and heavier bodyshell, top speed was up by 5mph with 1.2 seconds shaved off the 0-60 time compared with its predecessor.
